We went to the vet yesterday who got him to vomit (poor baby) but no sign of the sponge. I checked the kitchen a few more times and no sponge either, so he definitely ate it. Now I'm just waiting for him to poo it out. What was also scary was that he took a knife from the sink area, so I found it lying on the floor. Can't believe it! I took care to put the knife away and out of his reach, not realising that he is now taller and can reach it... Just so lucky he doesn't have any cuts or injuries anywhere. And also so lucky that I never care for sharpening knives.
Be glad this is not what you are dealing with! I'm terrified of the horrible things dogs will decide to ingest. Best of luck retrieving the sponge. Hopefully it's in pieces!
Oh Cedar, why did you have to eat a sponge? How's he doing now? I'm paranoid about the things that Parker eats. Out and about on our walks my eyes are, 95% of the time, on him because he's always sniffing for potential 'edibles' like a wad of tissue or worse a dead rodent. He put a wild mushroom in his mouth recently and I freaked out. He wouldn't open his mouth for me to pry it out. Eventually he decided to spit it out himself. The more attention I give him during these times the more likely that he'll swallow it. Is Cedar acting like his normal self?
Poor guy! I hope it passes nicely. Random- I went to clean up Dory's poop in the yard and it was super colorful. Lots of crayons! LOL! I had zero idea she ate them! Winning as this mom dog thing!
Hopefully Cedar will pass it without any problems.
My bridge boy ate crayons too which I didn't know about until I found the very colorful poop one time. He lived to be 15.5, thank goodness they weren't toxic.....
Are you sure he ate it. Someone on hear awhile back thought her pup ate a sponge. The kind you use in the shower. After a vet appointment and I think X-rays she found it in the dishwasher.
Cedar is his active naughty self still. Pooped this morning and there was some spongey stuff, but it could also be remains of a park ball. Hope he poops tonight, it will mean he's on normal schedule. Definitely feel like a bad pup mom. I knew he's growing taller, I should have known he will one day be able to reach stuff and anticipate that.
Tanner ate a sponge once too. I had it on the side of the tub drying...totally dumb of me. I was more worried about the chemicals that could be left from cleaning the tub. He's had lots of bad tummy issues so I was freaking. He was fine though. I guess he pooped it out. Silly dogs!
Good thoughts that Cedar passes the sponge easily. Hoping to read good news sooner vs later. These pups are fast and clever and choose such crazy things to be interested in.
Hope he gets it all out soon, good to hear he's able to pass it and is doing alright.
