Baylee will be 4 months tomorrow and has been eating Fromm Puppy 1 cup 3x day. She never refused her food maybe afternoon meal she picked at but never breakfast and dinner. The only thing i can think of is my hubby has been off most of the summer so Baylee has been sleeping until about 7:30 everyday since we brought her home at 8 weeks old. Today he went back to work and was up at 5am and of course Baylee woke and didnt really get back into a sleep. Then later this morning we went to a bark in the park festival and she was busy meeting other dogs and became very tired from all the excitement. We came home i tried to get her to eat and again no she didnt want anything to do with her food just wanted to sleep. Let her have a long nap and then tried again at dinner and again no she didn't want anything.
She did have a poop earlier and has been drinking lots ... do you think maybe she is just very over tired? She is out cold once again. Really she has missed her morning naps and getting up at 5am as well?

Am I worrying for nothing??

I don't think I'd give it a couple days even. If she were mine and is still not showing any interest in food tomorrow, I'd be making a call to the vet. Every dog is different but I've yet to know one who's too tired to eat.. It could have something to do with all the excitement. Mine who is 6 months old(and normally crazy about food) won't take a treat at the dog park - just too much excitement to worry about food. But she's always happy to gobble up a meal as soon as we're home. If it is because of the excitement, it shouldn't last long - I would certainly have her checked out if she's still not eating tomorrow.
Good luck!

You know your puppy best, so if its not normal for her, then its not normal. It may be that she's tired, or it may be that she's got a GI bug brewing and doesn't want to eat. The good thing is that she's drinking water. Dehydration in a dog is more dangerous than not eating for a day. I'd watch her closely. If she stops drinking water, was lethargic all day tomorrow, and not like herself, I'd probably take her in.

she is nibbling at her food and when i offered her a piece of cheese she quickly gobbled that up as well as a few dried liver treats. She also grabbed her bully stick and chewed away on that for a bit as well. she is acting totally herself in every other way and also if i hand feed her she seems to eat some. I will watch her tomorrow and see how she does in the morning. Hubby works again and up at 5 am so we are going to put her in her crate to bed a little earlier tonight. She does not seem off in any other way other she played tonight and now she is back to sleep which is very normal around this time of night

If she's refusing all food, I'd take her in. Try some boiled rice & chicken. Puppies can go through picky phases and she could just have an upset belly. Both mine are food motivated and love food; however, both have skipped a meal of kibble here and then.

You know your pup. If she won't eat anything she's likely not feeling well. If she's not showing any other symptoms I'd see how she's doing tomorrow. If she's still refusing & wont eat anything- I'd ring the vet. If she's lathergic, has vomiting or diarrhea, I wouldn't wait until tomorrow.

this morning she is totally being herself and still wont eat from her bowl but will eat if i place handfuls on the floor or from my hand i think she is just being stubborn and thinks it is just a big game. I did a couple handfuls on the floor and left the rest in her bowl she ate everything from the floor but still wont eat from her bowl lol. she doesnt seem overly hungry. At the moment she is rolling around with one of her toys talking to it being her silly self.

This was us a week ago. Go up to the search bar and type in Picky Eater and you will find a thread I started with wonderful responses and good advice. Trevor had no interest in food for several days. He would eat treats but decided he didn't like his kibble. Stubborn! But he only went hungry once and now he is back to eating. They are smart and when they realize, I better eat while I can, they do!

Try a different bowl :)
When I had a kennel there were some dogs that didn't like the metal bowls. Some didn't like bowls at all and preferred a plate. Some had tags that hit the bowl when they ate so they would not eat. I even had one dog that wanted plastic plates, seems the owner didn't want to wash dog bowls. Big dogs usually grow out of this. Worth a try?

I tried a different bowl and even a plate but nope she is refusing her kibble. I went and bought a can of Fromm chicken/veggie soft food and mixed a little with her kibble but she ate all the soft and left the kibble grrrrrrrr .... she loved her kibble up until a couple days ago i just dont get it! She is not sick or unwell nothing has changed in her just the not eating and picking at it her and there.

LOL too funny, she is very clever. Good advice on the feeding instructions.

I had a client that was very disturbed that her puppy wouldn't eat. She left me instructions on how much to feed when I came at lunch time. The vet told her to follow the amounts on the bag. She had an old english sheepdog (10 wks old) that of course would be over 60 lbs when grown. So... she was trying to get the pup to eat the amount instructed for a 60 lb dog. Not that you are doing this I just found it amusing.

She may not like the food, does Fromm make another flavor?? Some pups have a preference to meat vs chicken. But then she might not be hungry. She will eat when she is hungry :)

I went through this a little bit with Piper when I first got her, because my breeder mostly just let her graze and eat when she was hungry. I think because she was little, and was trying to keep food available. She would eat a bite or two, and then nothing for an hour, and then another bite.

At first I thought her food was too rich, because she gets Fromm Surf and Turf, which is grain free. But I briefly went back to just what the breeder was giving her, and she did it then too. I just started getting persistent and stopped leaving food out for her, and only put it down at meal times. I did stop giving her treats and training for a couple of days to make her hungry. She caught on. Now she eats like a typical golden. 30 seconds after her meal, its like it never happened, and she's begging for more ;)

If she's still drinking water, she can actually not eat for a while and be alright. She will eat when she gets hungry.

Also, is she teething? If she's having new teeth coming in, that might be a reason she doesn't want to eat hard food. Many dogs start chewing everything, but some dogs don't want to chew if their mouths are sore. The only other thing I would do is check inside her mouth and make sure it doesn't look like she broke a tooth, or have an infected tooth.

I gave her half a can of wellness puppy wet food and mixed in really well to her fromm puppy kibble and she gobbled everything all up kibble and all tonight ... actually cleaned the whole bowl dry. Just dont want to get in the habit of having to mix wet food with her kibble all the time. I have a 30lb bag of Fromm puppy to get thru and then may switch to the wellness as she really seemed to like he wellness wet compared to the fromm wet i gave her yesterday. We shall see what tomorrow brings us :)
