Sorry for all these threads. I just have so many different questions and not enough answers!!
Cooper has been doing great these first few nights of him being here. He's currently in his crate for the night right now, actually!
And he has been in there for the past hour. :/
I want him to go to bed a bit later than he has been the past couple of nights. Yesterday night he went to sleep at around 8:00, and tonight I was able to keep him occupied long enough to keep him awake until 8:30 (though he napped from 7-8. I woke him up and played with him a half hour before putting him in his crate to tire him out again).
He takes multiple naps throughout the day. He takes one long one in the morning after breakfast and potty (from about 8:30ish to 10:30ish), and before lunch he takes short naps. After lunch and outside time, he takes his afternoon nap (which is about 1:00 to 2:30) and then he naps again at around 4:30 to dinnertime, which is at 5:30.
After dinner, he seems to not want to nap, which is odd because his other two meals knock him right out! I want him to nap after dinner so he wakes up and plays again before bed, but I just can't seem to keep him awake?
I guess what I'm asking is how to keep him awake until his bedtime at 9:00-9:30. I don't want him to nap in the evening so he's nice and tired before bed, but it's hard to keep him awake once it hits 7:00. I make so much noise and I try to engage him in play, but he just ignores me and falls asleep.
Should I change his mealtimes? Right now he eats at 7:30, 12:30, and 5:30, but I may change it to 8:00, 1:00, and 6:00.
I want to put him to bed later so he stays quiet until at the very least 7:00 in the morning (with potty trips in the middle of the night, of course!) because right now he's waking up at around 6:30-6:45 ready to start his day.
TL;DR: How do I keep him awake and active at night until 9:00 if he likes to take naps a couple of hours before bedtime?
