Any tips for a new golden owner? :)

I got my puppy Brody about 2 weeks ago and he's been amazing to have around It's my first dog so i've been doing lots of research on youtube and google. But i still thought I'd ask some experienced owners if they had any advice for a first-timer Any input appreciated

Oh and here's a pic of him below

Please study the effects of over vaccination in all dogs.
Get yourself the largest memory card available for your camera
Read Merle's Door & Pukka's Promise by Ted Kerasote (will put into words a perfect bonding of man and dog)
Hold the little guy close for as long as you can - they grow fast
Get a really good vacumn!! lol
And hang on for the ride of your life - it's wonderful.

That about covers it...

Remember you've got a golden retriever...they're smart, sensitive dogs that love to please. Please don't use any harsh training methods...positive reinforcement will take you a long way and you'll have the best, most loyal friend you could ever ask for.

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.

Some advice from a 1st time owner as well; train Brody as much as possible. Maybe have him do a sit, down, shake, stay, etc. and at his age it doesn't need to be more than 2 or 3 commands a "session". And any treats given should be earned, but if your puppy is play motivated then good for you, it's much easier on the wallet LOL! Don't forget to socialize him once he gets all his shots, I highly suggest a puppy class. As a first time owner I found it very informative and fun for myself and Maverick.

Cute little guy you got there. As the others have said, take lots of pics and make sure to get a good quality vacuum. I got a Roomba and I vacuum at least twice a week and the hair still doesn't stop!
