| impossible to walk with Meeka pulled and leapt around on a check chain collar, our obedience instructor suggested we try a halti and she has responded really well to it. She started wearing it when she was 5 months old and she is now 9 months. She fought it a bit when we started but the instructor said to just keep walking and she adjusted to it within about 10 minutes. She still doesn't like to put it on but enjoys her walk enough to forget about it. We are progressing really well with her obedience training and though we still use it in class, to keep her calm, I am sure we will be able to stop using it soon. A lot of different breeds in our classes use them, at least temporarily, til they get through the teenage stage. It has allowed us to enjoy our walks and relax in obedience classes so I am all for it. Sent from Petguide.com App |

| impossible to walk with I had the same problem with Joey. My miracle is The Easy Walk Gentle Harness. I couldn't believe it, the trainer put it on him and that was the end of all the pulling. He does jump for his traditional one jump at the first of our walk, I give a little tug......and he's done!! Away we go!! Saw the trainer put on on a lab puppy last week and the same thing happened the puppy just stopped pulling!! Good luck hope you find something that works for you. Sent from Petguide.com Free App |

| impossible to walk with I see the picture on fluffygoldens post. This is the one that we use as well. It's surprising how well Joey responded to it, he is 6 months old and neither of us had enjoyed our walks till now. Sent from Petguide.com Free App |

| murphy1, thank you so much for your advice. I went to the pet store today and got as a last resort a prong collar and a chain leash. In the second I came home decided to check if it works. It seems that the problem is solved..... she is like another dog... she tried to gain speed and pull a few times but immediately stopped and did not pull again. She walked near me. I think she finally got it! |

| The prong collar is the safest and quickest way to alter the pulling and jumping behavior. It has always worked for me. I have used it on our young goldens and mature males. Typically one session and they are better. Some of the more stubborn ones took more but they didn't pull when it was on. If you think a prong is to harsh think about the poor dog that thought that the squirrel was better than the treat and dashes onto the street and an oncoming car. |

| easy walk harness maybe? that harness is pretty good harness. It stops the pulling if its on right. I know Bauer likes it better than the gentle leader. Gentle Leader rocks but he does try to rub it off.

| For anyone who is concerned about prong collars I suggest taking a look at the following study. You have to scroll down a ways to get to the results. Prong Collar Info It was an eye opener for me a number of years ago. I love the line that the prong collar is like putting power steering into your dog. If you want good info on how to correctly put the collar on the dog, go to the Leerburg Dog Training website. They have great pictures of what it looks like on the dog. With a golden, it can be easy to have the collar too loose.

| Thanks Leslie. I will definitely check it. MyBuddy22 I told my self that if the prong collar will not help I will buy the harness. For now I'm satisfied with the collar. |
