Plastic Water Bottles

Do any of you use plastic water bottles as toys for your puppy? I first saw it at my breeders place and was told it was okay at the time. It was amazing to see all the puppies play for hours with just a single water bottle. Today at Petsmart I saw toys that were balls but inside was material that made the same noise as a plastic bottle. Just curious if I should be concerned or stop giving them to my guy when he gets to a certain age. Sure is a cheap way to keep my puppy busy for an hour or two!!

Plastic Water Bottles

We do! Bear loves it! We got this fabric cover and make sure to take it away when he starts puncturing the plastic.

Plastic Water Bottles

I got Diesel one of those balls because he loves to chew on water bottles and, after about 10 minutes the inside ball was destroyed and no longer "crunched" and the outer plastic was wishing it had been left at the store. Poor ball... Never had a chance!

Beamer LOVES water bottles... he will steal them if he gets the chance and will beg for one. I give them to him with the caps off. He chews on them for just a little while before getting bored with it. I also do have a toy that you can put one in it and he loves that, too!

I do! Kenzie also has a toy that looks like a normal stuffed toy but has a bottle inside, it's basically a plastic bottle covered with a pelt. You can even replace the bottle when it's all crinkled out!

IMO, a water bottle is not safe in the long run.

Bella has one of these. It comes with a replaceable water bottle inside with a squeaker cap. She's had it for about two months. She ripped the cover off a tennis ball today, but she has not been able to ruin this.

Amazon has some good prices on these.

Lucy loves the toys you stuff with an old water bottle. Don't give just the bottle though. We did for a while until one day she tore the plastic all apart. oops

Bentley's favorite toy is a large empty pop bottle that I washed and pit a few uncooked macaroni in it. He has one outside and one in the house. He'll play for a loooooong time by himself with it.
He drives Ky (and DH) crazy because it's noisy but I don't care.
*just make sure the top is screwed on SUPER tight.

They're hard to beat especially on the snow...they love to play with them as they slide across the snow. And hard wood floors watch out...they have an absolute ball. I think removing the cap is a good idea as well as keeping a close eye on them as they play...the last thing you need is a trip to the vet to locate the cap.

Ok wow! I'm glad a lot of you do use them!! I'm going to look into one of those toys that you can place the water bottle inside them. I take the cap, the plastic ring under the cap and the wrapping before I give it to him and he was a happy camper for a loooong time.

I am going to HAVE to try the 2 liter soda bottles with dry macaroni - I feel like he would absolutely love it too after seeing his excitement today with the small water bottle lol
