Sage follows me everywhere. She will scratch at the bedroom door in the morning if I'm not up yet after DH takes her out to potty. She can be sleeping at my feet and if I get up to go to the bathroom it won't be long and she will be wandering in to see what I am doing.

We have only been crating her when she needs a time out or a nap and can't seem to settle in the living room, if we are gone or at night. I trust her now to let me know she has to potty!

I just think it's so darn cute that she has to be where we are. The only issue is outside. She could care less what we are doing if she is outside. We are working on recall in the yard and I would say she comes 50% of the time and another 30% will eventually....the other 20% we have to go get her. BUT need to be careful because I am noticing that she thinks its a game at those times.

These really are velcro dogs, and the best foot warmers one could ask for

Hi mayve,
How old is your puppy? I'm experiencing very similar! Cailín used to come nearly all the time in the yard but has only recently started to dart away as soon as I approach her. It is absolutely a game to her. She won't even play fetch anymore, well she fetches fine comes back towards me and either darts straight past me or stops just out of reach. And when I say give, she legs it in the other direction. It is funny but frustrating and it means I cannot trust her to play this when we are out.
So I'm interested in other replies that you get.
Cailín is just over 5 months by the way.

Sage is just shy of 11 wks....I know she's still young! Normally we take her out on leash, but recently we have started taking her out in the small area off leash and are working with her on recall. Once a day we take her out in the big area and let her run and play. It's totally fenced and one of us is with her the whole time. She is 100% on recall in the house! Heck I don't even need to call her most of the time as she just is where I am...lol!

Well it took just over 2 years but now I have a foot warmer and cuddler supreme. As a pup she was more interested in play, she did follow us everywhere but I dont think sat still enough for a hug, till now. And my heart just feels like it gets so big and full when she cuddles.

I wouldn't say that Sage is a cuddler, not in the way people think of it anyway. yes she sleeps on my feet, but does not like to sleep in my lap. I can pet her for a bit before she starts the bitey bitey, but she still is more interested in playing with me than snuggling. We are seeing improvement in the bitey stuff. She just has to be where I am....I will secretly admit, that while I love the puppy I am really looking forward to the dog she shows signs of becoming. I can't wait to explore the parks and lakes etc with her, and come home and nap with her.
