By the skin on his teeth! OMG! I was so worried! We were told before our two week break that the final class was a test and it would be food avoidance. So we've been religiously working on food avoidance.

Game day.... different trainer and BAM! It's actually ignoring distractions. Great. I have the only ADHD dog there. Sweet!

We did a review which we passed with flying colors. The trainer commented on how well Bear was behaving. The aide kept saying how much more impulse control Bear has. I don't see it, TBH. All I saw was my fluff head walking off his mat every 30 seconds.

When it came time to "learn", we had to walk backwards and have the pups follow us while keeping attention on us. The trainer used Bear as an example, and all Bear wanted to do was follow me. The trainer was impressed. The trainer would walk backwards, Bear would follow and as soon as she stopped, Bear would check in with me and then come sit by my side. I'm impressed with that. Go BEAR!!!! :D

We did 15 minutes of "handling training" which we aced straight away. The trainer was also impressed by how relaxed Bear is with our handling. He lets me grab/pull/reposition his toes, tail, ears, lips, muzzle, legs. I can hug him and kiss his face without any issues. Most of the pups didn't want to be touched and shied away. Go BEAR!!!! Your doing great!! :D

Then came time for the test. Oh BOY!

We had to call our puppy from across the room and he had to come to us without veering off to visit with the other puppies.

Ptff My kid? Umm.... *sweat sweat sweat* Do you see how friendly he is? My DH decided to be the holder since Bear seems to listen better to me. I knelt down and looked Bear in the eyes and said, "It's go time, bud. Let's show them how it's done."

I put Bear in a sit, wait and walked away. At the other end, I turned and called him.....

And he RAN!! Ran like he hadn't seen me in a week! It was the best sight I could have asked for. His eyes were alight, his ears flapping up and down, and his tongue hanging out the side. He skidded into a sit at my feet and boy did he get treats. :woot2::banana:

So here we are graduates!!! YAY! BEAR!!!

The littermate is still awaiting the results of the DNA test. We were originally thinking either rotti or Black and Tan hound. The hound is starting to sound more possible. During our walks now, he spends 75% of the time with his nose to the ground. Lol!!!

Thanks everyone!! I want to enroll him in more classes. But I think I'll give it a month or so. We need to work on his ADHD. Lol!!! Let him mature a bit.

Bear is the star of the day but so are you. It takes a team to make it happen. Congratulations all around.
