Newbie Here Hi Gang, My name is Missy and our family just got our first Golden puppy for Christmas. We have been talking about adding a puppy to our family for a while now and Christmas just seemed like the perfect opportunity for our daughter. I found this site while googling how long puppies are normally supposed to sleep (because our girl is a snoozing fool!) and it is a wealth of information plus you all seem like such a great group of people. It's nice to "meet" all of you! Here are our babies on Christmas morning. Kayla is our daughter, Bailey is our Golden at 8 weeks.

| Welcome! They're both adorable. What a nice time they'll have growing up together. This really is one of the best and most kindhearted group of people on the internet.

Welcome Missy Kayla & Bailey My daughter was about the same age as your daughter when we got our second golden girl Jenny. She had many years of happiness with her. Wishing you all the best. Puppyhood is rough but worth every second. Enjoy !!!

Welcome to the forum. You have a lovely daughter & pup. Puppies tend to play hard, then crash (snooze) for bit then they're back at it. Our Bella is 9 months old now, but as I recall it was not uncommon for her to snooze for an hour or so, several times a day. BTW it's a good idea to put them out to pee/poop as soon as they wake up from a nap, while training. Mike D (Bella's dad)

Welcome to the forum, Missy! Sweet, sweet photo.... Kayla and Bailey are so precious together Enjoy that sleepy puppy while it lasts Have you had a chance to research puppy classes yet for Bailey? If not, it's never too soon - especially since the really good ones will fill up quickly. I'm so glad you found this forum, I've learned so much here over the past couple years about dogs in general and goldens in particular. There are some extremely kind-hearted and knowledgeable folks here, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! Happy New Year! Kristy

Thanks everyone! We're having a lot of fun with her. I know that puppies sleep a lot, but it is not unusual for her to sleep all day - not interested in playing at all. But then the next day, she's running laps around the table for a bit before sleeping, so I think it's all evening out. She's a growing baby! We do have her registered for puppy classes at a local obedience/agility center. We live very close to Seattle, WA, so we have some "major city" perks like great programs and facilities for things like this. We aren't able to start until Feb 16th, she'll be 14/15 weeks old. I was hoping to get in a little sooner, but I know she'll do just great. I can tell already that she'll be super easy to train - she already sits without fail and will sit and wait to eat her food until I tell her it's okay to eat - even as I set it in front of her feet and she's starving. She's a super good girl! Thanks everyone for the welcome, it's always wonderful to be able to talk to people who have experience - no matter what it is.
