I mentioned before that we were going to surprise our boys with their new puppy on Christmas. I was holding the secret for about a month and it was so hard! I made it to Christmas Eve and then just had to tell them. They were beyond thrilled!!
We get our actual puppy on 1/6 or 1/7 so we "told" them with a picture and a stuffed dog. It took a little bit, but they finally got it! My pictures from the surprise are on my other computer but I will post them eventually. Here's a new one from our breeder from about a week ago.

What a beautiful little one, he is a doll. I am glad you are doing it this way (getting the puppy a full week after Christmas). Think it is best to let children get over the big Christmas present thing and be able to put all their attention to the puppy when the time comes to bring him home. Encourage the boys to be teachers too for your new pup as I think it brings a lot of maturity and more bonding when the whole family is part of the training and having rules established from the get-go.

Hope the time goes swiftly for you. Waiting those last few weeks is always the hardest.

thanks Deber! Yeah, this week is soooo hard to wait but being away on vacation is helpful for all of us. I've already signed her up for puppy Kindergarten starting 2 weeks after we get her where all my boys (3 of them) will be coming along to learn and help. I also have a private trainer coming in in the evenings for at least 3 sessions to work with all of us with the puppy too.

I'm hoping/plannng on them staying really involved with her training and care. The twins are 13 and the little guy is almost 8 so I think it should probably work out well. Technically.

I'm rushing home after vacation to take down all of Christmas and put up all of the puppy stuff so we're all ready for her arrival. I'm also trying to sleep as much as possible this week so I can "save up" the sleep for when I won't be getting much. If only...

Sounds like your starting off really well with training for both your new pup and your kids that's great and the pup sure is cute!!!
