Snappy Puppy I have a female puppy that is almost 8 months old. She is usually a sweet and loving pup, until she gets in trouble. A firm "no" or "down" will make her snap and sometimes even growl in response. I try to keep my voice and body language calm and relaxed and give easy commands like sit to redirect her into positive behavior which can usually work to stop the negative behavior. I am just not a fan of this kind of response. Has anyone else experienced this behavior with their puppy when disciplining?

I have an 8 1/2 month old that growls, jumps and bites when I discipline him or try to remove something that I don't want him to have. I even trade for it first. I think is a terrible teen thing but I'll watch this post for advice too. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

I haven't hit the 8 month age yet so i'm not sure if my suggestion is a good one but maybe a time out would work? My 3 month old growls at me when I'm making his food sometimes - which is a big no no in my book so he goes straight in time out! Maybe if when you discipline with a negative reinforcement and your pup growls put him straight in time out and ignore him for a good minute or two - that way he can learn that this behavior will NOT be tolerated. I'm sure a bunch of other people will chime in with ideas that have worked for them, good luck
