Question Whining for no apparent reason...

So I've been trying to chalk this up to us only having had Sasha for 5 days and she's still adjusting, etc., but I wanted a few more opinions to hopefully quiet my paranoid mind...

Sasha has been whining all day today, and believe it or not, all of the whining has occurred OUTSIDE her crate! For the first half of the day I thought it meant she might have to go out, even though she peed like 5 or 10 minutes earlier, so I would rush her outside and all she would do is eat leaves and lick the frost off the grass. All through the day today though she has gone over to either of the gates that we have set up to keep her in the living room and whined. I really can't figure it out. I've been on puppy duty all day and the only times she's been alone is when I ran to the bathroom while she was snoozing and once when I put her in her crate for an hour so I could run over to my office to take care of something work-related.

I checked her groin area and everything is clean, she's not licking more than normal, she's been eating and drinking well and playing hard all day... I'm just worried I'm missing something!

Maddie whined when we first got her. It's her way of communicating. We fretted a bunch initially but it seems as if she just does it to indicated that life isn't perfect.

She whines less now (at eight months) but still does it (little quiet squeaks) to indicate that she isn't perfectly content.

I'm not sure about your puppy and would be interested in hearing what others suggest.

Yeah, I was guessing she's frustrated at being limited to the living room right now, and if we take her out like upstairs to the office or the kitchen we put her in an xpen. Sometimes I'll have been sitting on the couch or chair and when she started whining I would attempt to play with her, but she wasn't really interested lol.

Another thing she does is if I'm sitting in the chair she starts darting forward and backward on the floor, touching the chair with her muzzle and barking at me. THAT I'm fairly certain is her being frustrated, 'cause she'll latch onto my jeans or charge at me if I don't get on the floor right away. But of course if I DO give in (don't all the time) and sit on the floor, she then acts uninterested! Goofy pup
