Arya has turned into a defiant teenager! Just when she was really starting to listen and behave she has turned into a little devil! She is barking in her crate a lot, counter surfing like crazy, and eating up everything she can get her mouth on despite having tons of chews and toys. She will grab something and look at me, wait until she's sure I've seen her and run with it. We can't wait to be out of this stage! I know one (not so little) pup who is getting coal from Santa!

Yep, she's a teen. For the next couple months, remember how sweet she was before. And remember it's a normal thing.

There's a whole thread for parents of teens on here. You're welcome to join in. You might want to read through the whole thread (very long at this point!). I guarantee you won't feel alone after reading what others have gone through.

The one big constant that I've seen in people who deal successfully with teens is assuming that you have to go back to basics. Don't assume anything you've taught her is still "in there." (It is but isn't being used right now. ) Most of us started from the beginning with sit, down, stay, etc., and kept repeating, repeating.

Good luck! It's a challenging time but---it passes faster than the human teen years do! I'm dealing with both right now.

Thanks! I thought there was a thread but couldn't find it. Dealing with a human teen and a puppy teen is rough!! I have two toddlers age 15 months and almost 4 years. It's busy and can be frustrating, but I love them all!

Oh dear. Until I joined this forum a couple of weeks ago, I was totally unaware of this dreaded teen phase. I keep looking at my beautiful baby Loki, who is now 4.5 months old, thinking of what lies ahead. Ignorance can be bliss sometimes Lol. I only have Loki & a very well-behaved 6 year old papillon to look after. Not sure I could handle those teen months & young children at the same time. Keep us updated to how it is going with Arya ...love the name!
