Ky is hurting very, very badly today. Normally she doesn't show her pain in front of Bentley, she tends to act tough, mean to him when she's hurting but today she hurts so bad that she just moans and whines. Bentley has been laying right at her side all day long, licking her paws and face.
It's so hard to watch, I've had to leave the room twice today so Ky didn't see my tears. She's been on Rimadyl and Tamerol all day but it's not helping at all.
Watching them together these past months has been interesting, it's almost like Ky refused to show Bentley her weakness or something but that's out the window today.
I'm beyond proud of Bentley, he's being a perfect pup today and so attentive to Ky.
I pray that the man that did this to her gets his some day

That's so sad. It's hard to hear about her being in so much pain. I would think that the vet could give her something stronger ... Do they give dogs epidurals?

But Mr. Bentley... What a sweetheart he is to take care of Ky. He's turning into a big boy!

Sorry, I can't remember - have you checked into possible laser/acupuncture/chiropractic therapy for Bentley? That along with a rotation of Metacam and Tramadol (3 weeks on one, then 3 weeks on the other) and adequan injections has done wonders for Ms. Susie, our 14 year old golden. She came to us as a permanent foster before we decided just to adopt her. She basically has no left hip joint and bad lower back issues. While we just added the adequan a few months back, she has been on the other since she came to us a little over a year ago. We now go every 4-5 weeks for laser/chiro treatments.

So proud of Bentley!

Thanks, yes. Ky is going through acupuncture and laser now. She was on Adequan injections but she had a bad reaction. Normally between her pills and Jacuzzi she does pretty well, it's just really bad today.
She's going in to see the Dr in the morning.

I'm so sorry Ky is in pain. Bentley is a wonderful little brother and you have every reason to be proud of him.

Is Ky's pain chronic ? Why is it worse today - weather related? Or is this what you are trying to figure out? I feel so awful thinking of her suffering - even a little - given what she has already been through.

I know how hard this must be for you. Let us know how you make out at the doctor tomorrow. Pain management is so critical. I wish I could help with a suggestion. My GSD was on Derramax (sp?) with no side-effects but that was back in 2005. I'm sure there are newer better products on the market now.

Thanks! The specialist we saw last month said we would try these treatments and if they didn't help it would be time for An MRI. He was trying to put it off because he said they're pretty expensive. I don't care about the money I just want to know how to make her better!
Bentley wouldn't even leave Ky long enough to take a walk today.
