Took my puppy Loki for his morning walk at 8.15. Decided to go a different route, which Loki found interesting. Lost my bunch of keys when they slipped out my hand trying to investigate what Loki was chewing on ....something he had gleefully discovered in longer grass he had been nosing through. A piece of bone. Took it off him & walked on, then realised my house & car keys were no longer in my hand. So back we went & thankfully found them laying in the grass. Phew. I really need to have them attached to me in some way! Got back home half an hour later & Loki had a snooze at my feet in the lounge, with little Jontay snoozing nearby. At 10.15 Loki was awake & mooching, so I decided to take him to the park & do some training on his long training leash ....recall mainly. I don't use a retractable leash on him at the moment, as he chews on the thin lead & gets it tangled up, so got a heavier training lead from my trainer ......about 28 feet long, so he can explore at a distance from me & venture into the undergrowth & beneath bushes. I haven't done the park on my own, as worried that getting him in & out of the car, attaching harness in back seat, would be too much strain on my herniated disc & sciatic compression. But managed as best I could & it was well worth the effort, as Loki had a wonderful time.
We had the park to ourselves. Not much training got done, as Loki was too distracted & not interested in treats. Totally ignored me on recall ...having too much fun nosing through fallen leaves (in spring? ....guess they are from the autumn ). So a few times I hid behind one of the big tree trunks when he was quite a distance away, & then called for him ...& he came. Did not come when he could see me! Little rascal. I took lots of photos ......wow, not easy .....kept getting bottom shots & tail shots as he took off elsewhere! Then I put the short lead back on, & we did a more sedate walk up & down the pavement, so I could take photos of some lovely gardens for the English garden group I belong too. Then time to head back home. Loki was really tired. I was in pain. We had been out for over an hour & had both enjoyed ourselves ...beautiful warm, sunny day, but not too hot. Loki is now in the lounge chomping on a new chew stick, & he looks as if it will only be minutes before he falls asleep. Jontay has enjoyed some time on his own, with his good friends the bengals. He will get his walk this evening. And I am now going to rest my back & leg for a while. Shhhhh ....my baby is now in the land of puppy nod.
