Yes I use a baby gate for puppy jail. The only time he goes in his crate is at night. The backroom is his with crate, toys, water ect but nothing he can get into so when he's in jail that's where he goes.

Tink just started hitting that stage too, trying to jump on the bed, the couch our laps. Tried to eat the remote today grabbed my sleave and was hangin on like a doggy ornament! Peeled back a two foot section of grass and deposited it in little bitty bites all over the deck. She had been such a easy pup she luled me into a false sense of security

Chester is hitting that stage as well but not so bad. he does get very mouthy sometimes and wants to constantly jump on me he's been getting a lot of time out too lately. i just say to myself just 2 more months of this...lol he's lucky he so darn cute.

every time i tell him time out he will lay down on the floor and put this sad face and when i go to pick him he will put his entire weight so that way i cant pick him up i have to drag him. I have a smart one on my hands lol

Yes is goes until 7 months and then they start the new teenage behaviors. Lately when I call Vinnie to come from the backyard he just looks at me and say's "yeah right" and continues to dig for rocks. When I do get him in, I have to wait for him to ponder between the rock in his mouth and the treat I'm trying to trade for it.

No way, not Bentley....lol! I'm with Dana here...I can't wait to get my pup home, but yet sometimes when I read these posts I think I must be nuts for wanting to go through the "teenage" phase all over again....

so let's see, Bentley is what about 4+ months, so look at it this way...It's only about three months of what will be (hopefully) 12+ years of joy....Hmmmm...

Bad Boy Bentley got a certain ring to it!! Cant help but smile when I hear stories about him,have you looked at his face, how could you be mad!!! :-P

I have just joined this forum a few minutes ago & read this with interest. I live in NZ & we have recently added a gorgeous Golden Retriever puppy to our family. We got him at just over seven weeks old & he's now almost sixteen weeks old. We called him Loki ( Viking God of Mischief). He does live up to his name, but is actually a lovely young fellow. I smiled when I read about Bentley misbehaving around the other puppies in his training group. Loki has been twice to Canine Good Citizen class, as I work the day puppy classes are held. The first class he went to two weeks ago, there was only one other dog in attendance ...a six year old spaniel. Loki promptly rushed over to poor Max, climbed over him & then began to hump him! I didn't know where to look, & my poor husband was horrified, as was the mum of Max. The trainer rescued Max from Loki's unwanted attention, but Loki made it his life's mission over the next hour to do a repeat performance! He does really well with basic commands, Sit, Down, Stay, Leave It & Touch. Now learning Fetch It. So smart little man, but at that class he behaved like a total idiot. Surprisingly (or maybe not), max & his mum did not show up for the second class the following week, so it was one on one training for Loki, who did enjoy playing like a crazy thing with the trainer's miniature poodle. He did get over-excited in his play, but thank goodness no untoward behaviour as with Max in the previous week. But then our lesson went into overtime & a new puppy class arrived. All the puppies were small breeds, so Loki looked like a full grown dog in comparison. The puppies all started madly cavorting around the room, with Loki cavorting madly with them. But as he as so much bigger than all of them, his playfulness actually looked menacing. He was not doing anything bad, but looked as if he was misbehaving, whilst the small pups looked cute. Poor baby. When the owners of the other puppies began to pick their babies up & head out into the yard, we decided it really was time to head home. I asked the trainer if the puppies in the other puppy class were all small breed too. Her reply was that there was one large breed puppy in the other class ...a Labrador, but she then hurriedly said that one large breed puppy per class was more than enough, as they could be quite disruptive! I feel that being a large breed puppy is definitely a disadvantage when mixed in with the small breed pups, as their same playfulness looks far more boisterous due to them being so much bigger & perhaps a danger to more delicate pups. Anyway, Loki sounds as mischievous as Bentley. Thank goodness Loki likes to sleep a lot! But he is beautiful, for all his rumbuctiousness. He is not too bad with biting, but certainly does try it on. Sometimes he just goes plain crazy & leaps about the lounge barking, jumping onto the sofa, biting us, nipping at our six year old papillon, who barks & growls back at him & adds to the chaos. It's dreadful, & really upsets my husband....& nothing stops him. The more he gets told to stop ..the more we push him away ...the more we ignore him ....the more he carries on. The only way to calm him down was to take hold of his collar & walk him into another room where his pen enclosure is, & give him timeout for around a minute. That is usually all it takes. Now I take a favourite treat into the lounge & get him interested in it, before he gets worked up. It has definitely helped. I think he must have entered his teen years really early ....or should we be preparing ourselves for worse to come!

LOLOLOL!!!! Oh, my stomach hurts from laughing. I could just see that.

Bentley will get through this. He sure is a cute boy. Be thankful he can't scream "you don't know ANYTHING!!" like human teenagers I wish I had some advice to give, but all our dogs but one were adults when they moved in.

Hi Dwyllis Welcome to the forum! Loki sounds like a great dog post some pictures when you get a chance I would love to see him!
Bentley did puppy class with these same puppies and they they all got along great but he did tower over them like you say with Loki.
This is our second set of classes now and I think they will all get back to playing well together as soon as Bentley stops acting like a brat
There is one other large breed puppy in our class, he's a Bernese Mountain dog, he's so lovable but he doesn't really play, he just likes to herd the other puppies into the middle of the room. It makes my cheeks hurt from smiling watching him do it!
