I'm so weird to be proud of this....

We have always owned female dogs until Bruce. Bruce was neutered young and never learned to lift his leg. My parents' male lab was also neutered young and never learned to lift his leg.

So, I've been curious as to whether Rocket would ever lift his leg, being our first non-neutered male.

Well.....this morning he did it for the first time!

While I hope he doesn't grow to become a prolific marker or anything, for some reason it made me smile and get all proud of my big boy when he lifted that leg up.

Yes...I'm weird.

Also hoping the lift will help keep the pee where it belongs instead of in his fur....that was always a big problem with Bruce.

We were definitely proud the first time Shadow did a leg lift.

Congratulations! No pictures?. Kidding aside this board is probably one of the few places where people can appreciate your excitement.

how old is he??!

I excitedly posted on here when I lst saw my guy lift his leg at 16 (?) months. He was such a pro I think he might have been practicing before a public showing.

My beautiful RB boy Buddy tried and tried and tried to lift his leg but every time he did, he fell right onto his face! It was hilarious for us, not so much for him. Bless his heart he never stopped trying, but he never got the hang of it LOL

6.5 months.

I was just last weekend asking the owners of the other golden in our puppy class about this. I saw their 9 month old squat and asked if he ever lifted his leg. They said he just started doing it most of the time fairly recently, but still occasionally would squat.

Cute! My neutered Wyatt never had a problem lifting his leg. However my non neutered Cody could never figure it out until he saw another male do it. Monkey see monkey do
