| Socialization Question Hey guys/gals! I am going to my girlfriend's parents for Thanksgiving and they have an older Portuguese Waterdog who has been fully vaccinated and got his boosters last week. He has a clean bill of health; aside from a suspicious lump they found . My question is this: would it be okay to introduce 9-week-old Ajax to Rudy (the family dog)? I think this would be a great time for socializing him and learning something from an older dog. Ajax has had his first-round of vaccinations, a heart-worm prevention, and the vet said he only needs two more distemper and a rabies shot. Thanks! |

| My vet personally said as long as we know the dog and know they are UTD then it's fine after the first round for the puppy. The socialization rewards outweigh the risks. I would double check with your vet. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

| As long as the adult dog it UTD on vaccines I would go for it but bring a crate or x-pen with you since you do say the other dog is "older". You don't want puppy getting himself in trouble! I know as Lucky got older he got less tolerate of puppy shinanagins. He would tolerate the yorkie pups til he bled but did not give the neighbors husky puppy at the time the same courtesy.
