Hi All...I have a 9.5 year old, McKenzie. He is serioulsy, THEE best dog ever. Since he's on the older side, I thought it be a great time to get him a brother, and so we brought home Monroe - (11weeks) home one week ago.

Monroe is a great puppy. He sleeps through the night, only cries/whimpers for a bit when we crate him, and is already learning so much.

Today is my first day back at work. I work pretty long hours, so I've hired my mom to go to my house twice a day to let him out to potty and let him and McKenzie play (Kenzie is not crated).

I'm having some serious anxiety and I can't figure out where its coming from. I think its all the change in schedules and having a fear of Monroe crying in his crate all day. Everything I read online says that it is OK to have a puppy crated during the day as long as he gets potty/play breaks - which is what he is getting. I guess I'm just looking for re-assurance that this is normal.

Maybe I need to be crated. lol.

Also, un-related question. Eventually my mom will not be coming twice a day. So, I'm already doing research on getting Monroe a Kennel/Dog Run. I've found an AKC one with a roof thats 4ft x 8ft x 6ft. Is this big enough to leave him in all day once he's old enough?

Thanks.

Think of it like this...

"I'm crating my puppy for HIS protection."

We crate my 3 month old at night and then connect his crate to an Xpen during the day. He's never complained. Besides he's really happy to lay in the crate and devour his Kong (I like to stuff it with 1/2 a frozen banana), chew on his bully stick, or sleep. I just make sure when we get home, we take him out of lots of exercise.
