Praying for little Portia to overcome what ever problem is.

Just an Update...Portia has come out of whatever was her problem. She began to return to normal on Friday. It was slow but by this morning her being afraid of everything is only a memory!
One thing that has popped up is one of her heel joints is now swollen! It is the leg she seemed to be favoring when all this started (read original post). She hadn't been favoring again until last nigh. Last night we noticed her limping slightly so I sat on the floor to see if I can pin point the pain. I found that her left heel joint was swollen I gave her some Rimadyl (sp?) that was prescribed early this week incase she had some kind of inflammation due to a possible UTI. Once the med kicked in she no longer limped. This morning the swelling was down a bit but by this evening it is like it was last night. The vet called to check up on her tonight so I told her about the swelling. It is possible pano (growing pains). I will be monitoring it and continuing the meds. The vet will take a look on Tuesday. When Portia is on the med so is completely normal in her movement and playing. Has any of your golden babies had to deal with pano??? It is scary to find a swollen area on my baby. You naturally want to think worse case situation. The vet isn't overly concerned but does want to take a look.

Our Phoebe was diagnosed with panosteitis @ 6 months. She presented with some left front limping which worsened overnight. I do not recall any instance of her acting fearful. Although she was in obvious distress and pain.
Things went downhill after that because of separate issues, but doing better now.
Hoping your sweet Portia is feeling better soon.
Sending best wishes and prayers
Dale

We are not sure what caused the fear issue. It may be just odd timing of both situations. Last Sunday we were definitely dealing with some kind of fear which slowly got better each day with positive re-enforcement and praise. This week a swollen heel joint and some gimpiness until the Ramidyl kicks in. Then she is all fun and play.

Dale...I am glad Phoebe is doing better!! It is so hard when our furbabies are going thru' distress but so nice when they come out on the other side doing well.
