Bear is almost (squeal) three months old and has officially outgrown his first collar. We weighed him unofficially last night and he is a shocking 20.4 pounds. I think his body is preparing to do another growth spurt. I notice that he'll get super lean and then round (without being fat - if you get what I mean) then BAM over night he grows a little bit taller and a little bit longer. He seems to poop less right before a growth spurt.
Bear had his first play date. I was ridiculously anxious because it was with my long time best friend who has two rambunctious dogs of her own and was dog sitting two other rambunctious dogs - all large dogs. The original plan was to only bring one of the dogs out - the youngest and see how things went. Well that went out the door rather quickly as the three dogs that were put away inside found a way outside within the first minute we were there. Bear looked spooked, but he didn't bolt. After the first hour where he just looked confused by the commotion of the huge animals, he started initiating play with my girlfriend's two dogs. We spent the next two hours keeping a close eye but it went exceedingly well. He was so tuckered out, I let him snuggle in bed with us. No accidents and he even let me sleep an extra hour.
Today my husband and I took Bear on a nice long walk to our nearby park. I wanted to work on his recall, so we took a 30 ft leash but he rarely strayed far from my side (even with the slack dragging behind us). He seemed to always know when I stopped walking be ause right away he would run over and sit by my right side (which we've been working on for the past 3 weeks). We managed to walk around the park 5-7 times and even raced around (as fast as my cubby body could go. Lol). On the way back he walked so well with the 30 footer that I think with more socialization and a little age, he'll do great on trails or if we go horseback riding.
The happiness he brings outweighs those moments of frustration 100:1
And now for the pictures.
