Puppies as gifts We are entering that time of year when people are picking out puppies to give as gifts. Usually I am very much against that, as it too often ends in abandoned or abused dogs. But in this instance, you can tell that Doug is really digging it. Click: YouTube: Doug meets Stella

| I have seen that video before and I very much think, that getting this pup or any pup was planned ahead of time and not a spur of the moment purchase, like a lot of people do around the holidays.

Most of the time giving a puppy or kitten or bird as a gift is a bad idea, but once in a while it's just the right thing. There's a man at my dog park with a huge lab mix. He said he'd been depressed for months about something, and his daughter brought the puppy home as a gift one day. He said it turned his life around. Really sweet to see. I think it depends on how well the giver knows the person and the living circumstances.

My Hank was a surprise birthday gift from my daughter. I was so happy even though I hadn't planned to get another dog so soon after my Maggie wwent to the Bridge.

I agree it is a bad idea, but my aunt was surprised for her birthday with gizmo and he is her angel. she loves the dog more than anything in this whole world...we all do. he's the reason why so many members of my family got the same kind of dog
