Once you're able to get out of the house again, given the weather, you might look into Nina Ottoson's puzzle toys for dogs (can also be purchased online). Phoebe could play those with her front paws (I think). Very smart games with progressive levels. Great for keeping smart dogs quiet while tiring out their brains. Also, there are several lengthy threads on here about games to play during winter months to entertain dogs indoors. If you search for those, they should pop up. Lots of ideas for things and I'm sure some would be calm enough for Phoebe. Hope she recuperates really well and quickly!

Hello Everyone, We brought Phoebe home yesterday! The first thing I did was to place her smack in the middle of our bed. That way we could all get to her. She absolutely "came alive!" Lots of kisses, snuggles and tears! Controlled chaos! Today she is post-op day # 5. Her incision is clean and dry. Pain seems to be well controlled. She does have to wear that strange satellite dish. And while she doesn't particularly like it, seems to have accepted it as a necessary evil. We were hoping for a few extra TV channels, but It isn't working! She is comfortable in her crate, resting and sleeping well. The trips outside for potty breaks take two of us. We are using the ramp, but I am just not coordinated enough to manage the leash and the sling together! She is hesitant to put too much weight on that hind leg, although she tries gingerly. Her first rehab appointment is this Friday. I am incredibly grateful for all of the advice and support from members on this forum. My initial post was on 10/20/2012 Phoebe's surgery was 10/25/2012. Five days! The input helped us make decisions in a timely manner with information to guide us. I cannot say enough good things about Dr.'s Spodnick and Holmes at VSH in Cary, NC. (The local ortho specialist had a 3 week wait! ) I hope you will all continue to keep her in your prayers. She is such a sweet girl and deserves to be healthy and live a long life. 🎃 Dale PS: Outwest, many thanks for the info regarding the puzzles. Another dilemma solved! Ordering ASAP!

So glad that she is home and doing well. Butters came home on Sunday and her incision looks good, she is just dying to play with her sister, getting very bored with the crate! Please keep me posted on how your sweetie is doing , you are in my thoughts and prayers.
