Today was a first time....

....event for the youngest.... it was 45 degrees outside, sunny.... NICE.... so you can guess where I went after running a few vacation day errands.

Before I dig into the pictures, I have to express that posting these pictures should have been a happier occasion. I'm feeling pretty numb right now after I got back in my car and started driving home... and began hearing bits and pieces about young children being slaughtered.

Very shortly we will experience our family tradition of sitting down and watching Jesus of Nazareth. And there is one scene in the movie where the Roman soldiers rushed through the towns and slaughtered all the children, even those in their mothers arms. That scene always made me feel sick and cry as a child and every year we've watched that movie, or dwelt on the Holy Innocents at church. I can't express enough how horrified I am that somebody would or could do something like this.

I find it very hard to share how happy we were this morning while out at a lake. The joy on my dogs' faces and their movements should tell the story instead. And hopefully gives people something to lift their hearts and smile about today...

thank you for the smiles... I needed them. Dogs really do live in the moment and the affairs of the world around them don't penetrate too often. I hope the memory of your two frolicking in the water help you stay grounded. Bella did this for me earlier today.

I love the bitey face pix of your older dog--obviously having a grand old time!

Thank you for these pictures. A high, waving tail and a wet puppy having fun are good at the moment.
