I switch back and forth between Canidae and Diamond Naturals (not regular Diamond), and am very pleased with both of them. The Diamond is VERY reasonably priced, at about $30 for a 40 pound bag of the Chicken and Rice.
I've heard, (now don't quote me!), that you can call Wellness and they will send you $10 in coupon every month that you can use toward food. If you sign up for their emails, there are always coupons too combined with Petco and Petsmart perks and sales.
I did not have great luck with Diamond Naturals food, but every dog is different. I was disappointed because of how inexpensive the food was! I hoped it would be great. LOL Also, when I first got Charlie, I put him on Canidae ALS and he always had big, soft poops. The foods he has honestly done best on are Eukanuba Large Breed Adult and Pro Plan Chicken & Rice (the non-shredded kind). Pro Plan seems to be a bit less expensive than Eukanuba and you can almost always get a coupon on the Pro Plan website, too!
Well I got home tonight and my wife informed me that she bought new dog food... she said she already fed him some mixed with his old food. She bought Iams Proactive Smart Health LBP. I was bummed but after reading a review of this food I'm even more bummed. No way I'm feeding this stuff to my dog. Now I gotta figure out how to tell her without causing an argument

It's time for an adult food, no more puppy! That shound be a way to go out shopping again! Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul isn't too bad looking at ingredients. I would feed that if you wife wants to buy something that is available at the grocery store. Good luck with the convincing!
A couple of bags wont hurt - that gives you some negotiating time... IF you see some problem with the dog...
IMHO - dog food is not worth a war with the wifey! ;-)
LOL! I am against avoiding conflict! It is not worth stewing over, and if I believe in something I stand up for my beliefs. Ask her how much she paid for the Iams. I know around here it costs around $1 per lb, which ends up being more expensive than many of the decent lower priced foods, like Chicken Soup, and Canidae ect. There are foods out there that cost what she is willing to pay, with the ingredients you are willing to feed
Might as well feed it now that it is bought though.
