"bland" diets?

My vet has determined that Oz is food sensitive/intolerant.

He has been on Pro Plan Puppy, Eukanuba Puppy, and Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul- all give him soft to liquid stools.

He is currently on Science Diet I/D. It is the only food that has given him firm stools. Our vet wants him on it another week, but then to switch to another food with more nutrients, etc. I'm looking for suggestions for foods to switch to that won't freak his stomach out again?

FWIW: he is parasite free (has had three stool samples sent to the lab), is only outside on leash so is not ingesting items, etc. Transitions between foods are done very slowly.

I would probably have the testing done (others can tell you the exact name of the test, sorry, I don't know) to determine exactly what it is that he can't tolerate. For example, if it's chicken, that would certainly rule out some foods whereas if it's salmon, that would rule out others.
Bland = low fat and easy to digest, so I'm not sure which way you want to head. I/D has a lot of fiber in it, and for that reason a lot of dogs have firm stools while on it.
Although you say he's parasite free, have you done a 10 day course of pretty high dose metronidazole to be sure that it's not subclinical level giardia? That's not at all uncommon in young dogs.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

We ran a 7 day dose of panacur, followed by a 10 day dose of metronidazole just to be safe.

He's been on both lamb and rice and chicken and rice. We may try a couple of things and then run the test if we can't find something that works- it's super expensive @ my vet clinic.

I can appreciate that....
Try a food that has ingedients he's never see before. Remember, "lamb and rice" is probably lamb, meat (beef) meal, rice, corn, wheat, etc. so it's sort of hard to find novel protein/carb diets.
I'd suggest you try one of the prescription single protein/single carbohydrate diets from your vet. Expensive, but not like the test. You need to do it for about 12 weeks to see if it works for him. There are several made by all the big manufacturers, and they are complete and balanced diets.
Also a plop of pumpkin on his food twice a day often provides enough fiber to help tighten things up!

I would suggest California Natural Herring and Sweet Potato. Worked really well for my pup, however if your dog is sensitive to fish, that won't work. They also have a chicken formula as well as a lamb formula. The food is made for dogs with allergies and seems to have a good track record. It's also one of the few company's I still trust.

I second the california natural. However, if fish, lamb and chicken don't work, you could consider Natural Balance limited ingredient diets like duck and venison for a unique protein...they are also designed for dogs with allergies.
