| In the past I've spent hours and hours searching for a natural supplement due to certain things that change in my dogs diet that I need to make up for. So People please put supplements you know of (natural only) and perhaps if enough people contribute, this may become a sticky. Try to give name, use and amount for a golden of lets say of 70 lbs. I'll start with the ones I know Flaxseed oil - Omega3 fatty acids - Can help with coat maintenance, heart issues, inflamitory disease, cancer, and allergies - 1.5 - 2 tablespoons a day Fish Oil (salmon is best) - Omega fatty acids - Same as above - 1 - 2 human capsules a day, or one made for dogs read back of bottle Do to the harder time using ALA rather than the DHA and EPA in fish oil, Fish oil is always preferable as a supplement Apple Cider Vinegar - Digestive properties, removes tear stains on lighter dogs (DO NOT APPLY DIRECTLY, it works when CONSUMED) , helps itchy skin, smelly ears, and can even help with picky eaters - 1.5 tablespoons 2 times a day or 2.5 tablespoons for 1 meals Pumpkin Mash - helps with diarrhea, vitamin E, dietary fibre - 1 - 2 tablespoons a day If you guys know any please put below |

| Just a reminder that pumpkin needs to be the pure pumpkin (nothing else added), and NOT the pie filling. Also, for those curious, there's a website dedicated to "homeopathic remedies, supplements and/or home remedies to treat various ailments and diseases" in our pets (and in ourselves). Here's the Pets link: http://www.earthclinic.com/pets.html

| If feeding a balanced diet, additional calcium is not needed and can be deterimental to growth and development. A balanced caclium/phosphorous ratio is very important. If feeding a raw diet, egg shell can be used if not feeding bones, but even then it is important to get the correct amount. |

| I use fish oil high in EPA/DHA at the therapeutic dose of 300 mg of combined EPA/DHA per 10 lbs of body weight. It is important to use a supplement that is heavy metal and contaminant free and also does NOT have added vitamin A. I also use a probiotic/enzyme supplement and like that from The Wholistic Pet. Also, green tripe is a wonderful addition to the diet. We call it doggy crack at our house. Full of great enzymes! |
