| Splitting antlers Anyone know how I can split a deer antler myself? The yorkies get split ones normally from the store. 1 last the 3 of them forever. Buddy has finally learned to chew so he quickly detroys their split antlers- Not that I care ![]() My parents friend gave me this giant deer antler . I was able to with a saw the length down and cut off the sharp edges with a saw- I then sawed the rough spots down. Buddy is not happy though because he can't get to the marrow- He picks it up and then throws it onto the floor. Then gives me on heck of a dirty look because I have not told him he must eat his own and leave the girls antlers alone.Anyone know how I can split it myself without cutting a finger off? I am thinking of cutting the 2 ends at angles and then get repeating this over again as needed if push comes to shove.

| Mine get their antlers cut with a bandsaw. Usually a handyman friend does it, but Home Depot has done it on occassion too |

| Put it in a vice, and use a jig saw. I just did this last week. |

| A vise would be nice, but you could use a clamp of some sort you might have hanging around to hold it to something solid. The only problem you may run into with a hacksaw is they only have a 3"-4" depth of cut for the most part. You could double that if you go at it from each end and wind up with a 6"-8" long piece.

| A manual coping saw is what you need for a clean cut although some filing may be needed.

| Another good idea and it will give you a greater depth of cut. But the blades are so wimpy IMO.
