Found a handsome golden retriever on Dec 27th roaming around 27th and Figueroa. Very friendly dog. Well-behaved, well-groomed but not well-fed. My friends and I are taking care of him. Please claim before we get attached.
Gorgeous boy! Thank you for taking care of him while you are looking for his family.
Have you taken him to a Vet Clinic to have him scanned to see if he is Microchipped?
Have you contacted Animal Control to report you have found him? I see you posted a Found Ad for him on Craigslist-great, thank you!
I would also post him on Facebook, there should be a Lost/Found page for your area or state.
There are several GR Rescues in your area, you can also contact them to see if anyone has called to report their Golden missing or asking if they have been contacted about a Golden being found. You can call or send them an email with pictures attached. Contact the Group closest to you.

The other thing that might help find his owner is posting flyers around the neighborhood.
If you can't find his owner, those rescues listed about can take him in to their adoption program and find him a new home, if you would like help doing that.
We took him to a shelter and had him scanned for a chip: we didn't find any. We took him to a vet and got the mandatory rabies shot and a general checkup. We've posted info on google plus and facebook. Googling "missing golden retriever" in CA brings up the ad on the first page.
I'll look into the GR thing right away. Thanks for the info!
It was the vet who reckoned he wasn't well-fed because his ribs show.
