Exclamation Heat Cycle question

Sadie has been in heat since around November 6th. Up until today there has only been very little blood, which would get caught by her hair and then she would clean herself up. Starting last night there has been significantly more blood, to where we saw drips on the tile floor, talk about nasty. Anyway, shouldn't her cycle be comming to an end soon? Does the bleeding get heavier before the cycle is over?

Apparently there is 4 stages to the whole heat cycle. In which stage to they bleed, is it Proestrus?

I would like to have others comment on this too. Selli bled all three weeks of her heat cycle. It did decrease after about her second week. We did have drops on the floor through out (but we have all cork flooring, I just followed her around). I would however keep an eye on her and if her behavior changes, i.e. she becomes lethargic, talk to your vet about it.

The "average" cycle lasts 21 days.
It will vary form bitch to bitch as to how heavy and how long the bleeding last.
They do sell sanitary pants at most pet stores to help keep one's home clean. I have used them for year, I line them with a women's panty liner and change the liner several times throughout the day. Just remember to remove them when she goes outside to oee, if not it will make a big mess.
Forgot to add that they bleed during both estrus and proestrus.

Sam has been bleeding since Nov. 13. She's alittle over 9 mo. old. It seemed to happen alittle sooner then expected. We use a washable diaper we got at the pet store along with a liner, which helps with the mess. Some days the bleeding is not as heavy as others, but it's still happening. We did forget to take it off once when we let her out to "go". I think she (Sam) was embarrassed at what happened!
