Pet Insurance renewal

Finally decided to stick with VPI and renew. Premium for the basic insurance with the cancer rider is just $23 month ($276 yr) with a $50 per incident/illness deductible.
Granted the little things I typically take Brooks to the vet for generally run less than $60, but IF he ever had a serious illness/injury it would pay to have had it.
For anyone considering health insurance, VPI is great except that it does not cover any congenital problems or hip displaysia.

I am a firm believer in pet insurance!! I have Petplan, which does not cover routine care but it does cover accident, illness, and hereditary conditions like hip dysplasia, as well as no lifetime per-incident $$ limits as many do (for instance if my dog had a chronic disease that needed costly care for several years, many insurance companies will cap it at a certain dollar amount and after that I'd be SOL) I am very happy with the coverage it provides and the piece of mind in case something does come up.

I like that they will also offer coverage for "alternative therapies" like hydrotherapy and accupressure. Also they do cover cancer treatment as well. For the plan I have chosen, it costs $28/month, but there are lower plans as well.

That is the main reason I have mine as well. I got it for Sam as a puppy in the event of Hip Dysplasia, but now that that doesn't seem to be an issue at all, it's mainly for the cancer coverage. And I really hope the money spent on this insurance coverage will be a big waste of money... I'd like to never have to use it.
