Hi All, I am new here, had a question if someone could answer. Torque is 8 years old and lives with my parents in India. We don't have good vets in our city, figured I would ask people here if they have seen something similar.
The lump appeared about six months ago and the two vets we took him to have no idea what it is. From googling, it seems like lipoma, but I am not sure. He has no problem in movement and runs around like normal. Attached a picture and video of the lump. All input welcome.
Thanks.

Don't want to alarm you but it looks like something very similar to what my boy Barnaby had, good idea to get to the vets asap. Keeping everything crossed for you and Torque.

There are only 2 ways to know what it is: the vet either sticks a needle in it to get some cells and has them analyzed, or they remove it and send the whole thing in for analysis. So it is not surprising the vets don't know what it is because they haven't done these things. However, it is surprising that they haven't done either of these things in order to find out!
It looks quite red and angry for a lipoma, unless he has been licking at it. I would be inclined to do the fine needle aspirate (the first procedure I mentioned above) first to try to find out what it is prior to removal. Depending on what this shows it can change the surgical plan (I.e. It might need bigger margins around the mass removed if the FNA shows one thing vs another). Also depending on what it shows, the mass many still need to be sent in after removal to make sure it was all removed.
Long story short, I hope your parents can get him to a vet who can pursue this rather than just say they don't know.

Oh wow, I am blown away by how quickly and comprehensively you all have replied. Thanks a lot!
I forwarded all the viewpoints and instructions to my parents and informed them of the urgency - they are frantically looking for a vet that can perform the biopsy.
To answer some of the questions (Quick reply to individuals doesn't seem to work):
@mylissyk: Its about an inch/inch and a half wide and about half an inch swollen. It is very tender to touch. Travelling is an option, but the other nearest big city is two days by train
@Pilgrim123: Yes, i think the biggest issue was the vets didn't know what to do. Getting all these details about biopsies hopefully helps them understand that.
@swishywagga: Aw sorry about Barnaby, that's a great picture of him. At what age did he develop that? Torque had this growth over the last 6 months, we thought he was just losing fur on his knees from running around and sitting, but that doesn't seem to be the case
@puddleseverywhere: Thank you!
@Siandvm: Thank you so much for the detail, exactly what we needed to know.

Will keep the thread updated on the progress.

Barnaby developed a small wart like lump at the age of 11, it's quite a long story but to cut it short it was supposed to be removed during a routine dental procedure, but the vet couldn't find it at the time!. It grew slowly at first and was white in colour, but a couple of months later it turned darker and did resemble the lump on Torque 's knee. He had it removed at age 12 as it certainly changed significantly and we also noticed some balance issues etc (the lump was on the back upper neck area. Fortunately it never returned and he lived for a further three years.
I understand that it is a difficult situation for you in getting to a vet but I really would urge you to get it looked at as it certainly looks nasty. Good luck!
