Today I went to the park with Lilo and when I came back home I noticed a huge bump on his belly!
I'm almost completely sure that he was bitten by an ant, because I also was bitten by an ant today and I have a huge bump on my leg
Has anyone gone though the same thing? I'll post a pic and see if any of you have any idea of what it might be.
PS: Don't know if it might be relevant, but Lilo is 3 months old.
I am sorry, I do not know what to say. Keep watching to make sure he doesn't scratch and get it infected. If that happens be sure to get him to a vet for a check.
It's getting waaay redder that it was. Doesn't looks like it's increasing in size.
I made a vet appointment but I'll have to wait until Monday :/
It doesn't look like an ant bite anymore
Although the first pictures looked like a bite, those later ones do look angrier. Assuming he hasn't been licking at it, which would prompt a reaction like that, I'd be looking for a vet who's open. He could be allergic to whatever bit him.
He hasn't been licking it. When I first noticed it, it looked like he didn't mind if we touched it, but now he clearly doesn't want us to touch it anymore.
I'll wait until the morning, if there's no sign of improvement I'll look for another vet.
What on earth could be this?? Looks like it's full of pus
Could your boy have been bitten by a spider when he was in the park? Your talk of being full of pus reminded me of some pictures I'd seen of spider bites. (Spider bites get infected a lot more often than ant bites. And here in Australia we have a weird and wonderful collection of nasty spiders.)
Thanks for all the responses. I'll post an update to all the people that might find themselves in a similar situation in the future.
Veterinary said it was an ant bite that got infected. After a couple days it shrank and it's almost fully gone. No medications were needed
Wow - that sure looked angry in the last pictures. Glad you figured out what caused it and that he's on the mend.
