Played HARD now a limp?

My 4 year old Golden played really REALLY hard today with her dog buddies - unsure what happened during the play/fetch in the field - but now she is limping - NEVER ever happened before - small limp - rear leg.
I don't know if she slipped a bit, or found a small hole in the field? But, thing is, she has been super tired - understandably so. Bailey just won't stop playing fetch. There was a period that my son played with her and his two dogs and I visited with our new grandson, but he didn't see anything that indicated that she injured herself.
Could overplaying injure her?
Is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable overnight until I decide what to do regarding a vet visit tomorrow?
This is our first anything wrong with our girl. I'm very worried.
Can you tell?
Suggestions?
Thank you!
PS - our first Golden we went through the whole cancer ordeal....

I found some information from 2006 - post by 3 Goldens (thank YOU!) and I hope that all is well - I'm going to give her rest.
I checked her paws/knees/legs all up her legs knees everything! Nothing jumped out at me... I *think* we are okay! BUT, I will keep her on rest for a couple of days and slow easy walks until I know for sure she is okay.

You can give her a full strength 325 mg aspirin (aspirin ONLY, no ibuprofen, Tylenol, or anything else). That will help with any pain and inflammation. If it does not improve within about 24 hours, I'd make a vet appointment.

I gave her aspirin this AM about an hour ago and she is doing well - I'm thinking a muscle strain. She is kinda of a couch potato. She goes for walks and plays fetch but really doesn't get the work-out she got yesterday. She was playing fetch with our son who can lob the ball much, much further than we can!

And she played her little heart out!

I do have an appointment for 3PM today but DH thinks that she just needs rest and ice on/off which I've been doing. I'm really a helicopter dog momma.

My two dogs hurt each other all the time while playing!
A couple times my smaller dog started to limp for a little while after rough playing, it happens. If he hadn't stopped limping in a couple days I would have taken him to the vet, but he always does.
Look carefully, try to press lightly all around to see where exactly she's feeling pain and look for any possible injuries.
Hope she gets better soon :)

Hi, last week same thing happened to Henry. I'm not sure what happened as it was so fast, but we were at the beach and he was playing with another dog, he was actually in the sea. He suddenly squealed and lay down in the sand. When I tested his paw he snapped slightly, which he has never done, he is the gentlest of souls. He didn't want to get up so I let him rest a while and then we slowly made our way home. I took him to the vet straight away who checked all his limbs and his back because he was hunching. She couldn't find anything conclusively so she gave him two injections, pain killer and antiinflammatory and said to keep him quiet. The next day we went back and he was much better, so just gave us tablets for 3 days and after that he was really better and raring to go. Luckily it sounds the same - pulled muscle, but what a fright these babies give us:wink2:
