Exclamation Eye injury...

Layla did so well yesterday at her match that I took her (and her buddy Harley) to the creek to romp & play. They were racing through the trees and wrestling, when she ran up to me and was holding her eye closed. I freaked out thinking that Harley and hurt her with a toe nail or tooth, or that maybe she had run into a stick or weed. but I can't see anything, she never yelped or acted pained, she just won't hold it open (and seems to be sun sensitive) when she looks strait at me it's almost like the 3rd eyelid isn't pulling back all of the way. She is acting fine though, vet is in surgery & said to watch her, if not better call back later.

Should I be overly worried about this? I'm working on getting some pics.

Jersey had an allergic reaction to *something* (I still have no idea what) last winter that caused his third eyelid to swell. No idea if you're seeing the same type of thing or not... with him it was both eyes... but hoping this is something easy to fix! I definately think seeing the vet when you can would be a good idea.

It looks like she's able to hold it open a bit better now. Is it possible she got something in her eye that is irritating it? Others would probably know the best way to do it, but you might try flushing her eye out with some water and see if it helps.

Abby scratched her eye when she was a puppy. I took her to the vet and he put some green stuff in so he could see the scratch more clearly. Then he gave me some drops (which must have felt good because I remember she liked having them put in) and it cleared right up. I think I had her at the vet for some other malady, I didn't take her just for the eye....Good luck!

Still crazy after all these years.

Thanks everyone! she is holding it open normally now, and doesn't seem to be bothered by the lights anymore. i flushed it several times and never saw anything, but it was pretty goopy this morning-hopefully it was just something in there irritating it. seems to be all better now!

Glad to hear she's feeling better! With all that goop this morning, it may have flushed itself out or it was something too small to notice when you flushed it yourself. Either way, good news!

Glad that she is feeling better. I bet she got some dirt in her eye and was irritated. Hopefully she will be even better tomorrow. Good luck
