Hey everyone!
So I just got some potentially exciting news from HemoPet... as a background for anyone who hasn't been following Iorek's adventure on the seizure forums:
Iorek began experiencing high frequency, low amplitude head tremors on February 24th. Throughout these tremors, Iorek remained conscious and aware of his surroundings, although generally seemed pretty annoyed with them. The tremors were a multiple times a day occurrence at varying intensities and varying lengths (ranging from a 10-15 seconds to 15-20 minutes). Spinal tap, MRI, and diagnostic blood panel were all totally normal. Currently, Iorek is being treated with clorazepate and zonisamide, although we are weaning off the clorazepate as it is causing behavioral issues. Medication has everything pretty under control. I submitted a thyroid test to Dr. Dodds because YOU ARE ALL SO AWESOME and I never would have thought to do this without you all.
Iorek's preliminary results came back as... hypothyroid! This could be the cause of our issues! I'm weirdly excited! This is just the prelim because we're waiting on the thyroidglobystuff antibody.
Obviously this will be getting sent to both Iorek's primary vet and his neurologist but I wanted to post it here too since you guys have such a wealth of experience with this. Tell me what you think?
