Hey all! I got bit by a dog I am training (dachshund) a few days ago. I cleaned it very well with soap and water but it still got infected. I have heard not to put hydrogen peroxide on bites. Does anyone have any recommendations for cleaning solutions for bites though? Vets? Trainers? I know it's just a matter of time before i get bit again and if there is something better out there I'd love to know about it and have some on hand!

Soak bites in an epsom salt solution (follow the directions on the box). Still might need antibiotics though.

I am assuming that you have gotten medical attention for this bite and are asking for the future?
You can use hydrogen peroxide, just use it in a 50-50 mix of water and hydrogen peroxide. Clean it out thoroughly and apply an antibiotic ointment.
Puncture wounds are much more difficult to flush out, so they are more prone to get infected. You need to get treated quickly once you see signs of infection.

I hope you have seen a doctor, antibiotics are almost always a 'must' with dog bites. Plain salt or seasalt (2 tsp/cup) of very warm water. Soak for 10-15 minutes at a time at least twice a day.
