| Curious why your vet won't put them on Heartguard Plus? That is what I ended up switching to, but my vet said because we live in the country, my dogs are better off on Interceptor.

| It's because the Heartgard doesn't cover whipworms. I'm not happy about it because I'd like to stay on HG+ and just do a deworming a couple of times a year! |

| Okay, that is the very reason why my vet wants mine back on Interceptor when it is available again. She has us test our dogs twice a year.

| I sure hope Sentinel is back in Spring.... o_O If it isn't, I'll be buying Heartguard Plus for Bertie and Trifexis for Jacks. <- I had my regular vet write a prescription for Trifexis and I purchased it from a different vet all last year. I'd do the same thing with Heartguard + for Bertie if it weren't readily available. <- I'm not thrilled about it not covering everything, but I don't like the idea of putting a puppy on Trifexis. |

| Then ask them to write a prescription so you can order HG from Dr. Fosters and Smith, or another vet clinic that will fill it for you.

| Why aren't you thrilled with putting a puppy on Trifexis? Our, at the time 8 week old puppy took a pill, and should get her second pill at 12 weeks. Quote:

| I also second the comment about Trifexis - my puppy will be getting it when I get him home at 8 weeks and continue it the next month as well. Is there something we don't know about??

| Why would the pup get a pill of Trifexis at 8 weeks old and then not again until 12 weeks old? That does not make sense to me. Even a pup will have to stay on heartworm preventative monthly. My dogs are on Trifexis since Interceptor was off the market. They have done great on it, no problems. I was at the vet's office yesterday with one of my seniors and I asked my vet about problems with Trifexis. He said, the only complaint was nausea and that should go away after a couple of months being on the meds. Then I asked him about Interceptor coming back. He had gotten a small supply of Interceptor and he had one 12 pack for large dogs left. I told him, I take it, because it is cheaper than buying Trifexis right now and having had a really cold spell, right now I am not worried about fleas. Besides, once spring hits, I would rather have them on Interceptor plus Frontline Plus if I can. I don't want to overdo it with the flea protection, especially since I have never seen a flea on any of my dogs. But, in general, the word still is "no idea" when Interceptor will be back in full supply. Next month I will have to buy Trifexis again for my dachshund, since there were no small Interceptors available yesterday.
