My female's heat cycle seems to be behind...

I am trying to figure out why Pippa has not gone into heat yet.

Pippa's first and last heat cycle was in June (she was 9 months old). I feel like she should have come into heat already and I am becoming concerned. Should I be?

My dog was last in heat in Feb, and she just came into heat a week ago. It is common for them to cycle every 9mths, each dog is individual.

Good to hear. My other two females came into heat every 6 months like clock work. I am not in any rush for her to come into heat but just wanted to make sure everything was normal.

Thank you for your reply!

3 of my yorkies has their first heat at 6 months and every 6 months til they were spayed.

Roxy my littlest one and firecracker never went into heat. I was never going to bred her because she is so tiny at 3.5-4 pounds. I kept waiting for her to go into heat so that I could schedule her spay for a little over a month later but it never happened. I ended up spaying her at almost 3 when her mother went out of heat and I was spaying Cozy.

I do what I like and like what I do. Yorkies- Cozy (4/1/06), Roxy & Zoey (2/11/08), Lucy (4/6/09); Golden- Buddy (4/13/09- Rescued 12/11) Maine Coon cats- Mika (1998) and Tallulah (2000)

Every dog is different.

Cozy was the mom to my other 3 yorkies I kept. Of 5 females from 2 litters only Roxy never went into heat at 6 months or for that matter ever.
