My pup is currently on tylan(tylosin) for bouts of mushy, mucusy poop. She had it as a pup and after 6 weeks if tylan it was gone... Until a year later

I've been watching a friend's dog who just got the same looking mucus poop today (7 days into dog sitting). I'm concerned it is contagious ...any ideas? They are not fed the same foods.

Reason I haven't brought my pup in for tests is because the vet says the tylan will skew the results! Plus all her tests in the past have been negative.

What else could be contagious? Could it be coccidia, campylobacter, clostridium?( cuz I heard if its giardia tylan wouldn't help it)

Coccidia or giardia would be the frontrunners.

I fought both diseases before. Not fun. Did the round robin with my 3 dogs over and over. Clean the poop instantly and hope it doesn't rain. Drugs help. Do not go to any parks in case you spread those diseases around town. It takes forever to get rid of even in cold weather. I fought in Anchorage in Jan and Feb 5 years ago.

yikes. Is it mainly from poop contact or sharing a water bowl? I guess the owners of the dog we are watching can take the poop in to be tested since I can't bring mine in yet

It's shed in the stool, but it only takes trace amounts on the paws or fur to spread it around, so things like water bowls become easy places to share it.
