Mercy has a half inch patch of hair loss above her right eye. I am not sure what that is. I am not sure whether it was caused by injury or whether it is some kind of skin condition or skin parasite. It might be the same thing she had on the bridge of her nose a while back -> http://www.goldenretrieverforum.com/...idge-nose.html (Stange sore or rash on bridge of nose) The hair eventually grew back after about a month. All I care is that this condition can go away with or without treatment and that the hair will grow back.

I'd have your vet look at it and maybe scrape it for Demodex. She's a little "older" but still within the range for Demodex to show up.

My previous dog had demodex when he was 8 months old and also during the month of November. This is why I am concerned about the possibility of it being a parasite.

Pretty unlikely, but my lab has a form of lupus. It shows up by having hairloss around the eyes and on the bridge of his nose. It starts with the hairloss and then gets sort of a crusty feel to the skin.

I took Mercy to the vet yesterday, and she does have Demodectic Mange. Thankfully I don't need to take her in for a dip like my last dog. I just have to apply ointment. I also found out that she has an ear infection again!

Hopefully her bald eyebrow did not show during our Christmas card family photo shoot today.

Hello Everyone. Mercy's much better now. The vet says there are now no mange mites whatsoever but to continue giving Mercy her medication for two more weeks. Her hair should also grow back in 6-8 weeks.
