| I have chester on comfortis it doesn't cover worms so next month we will be changing him to trifexis I haven't heard anything bad about the brand or the product I've actually heard really good things. I was using frontline but it didn't work for Chester. I want to give him something that has Everything all in one pill. Ticks aren't common over here at all so I chose trifexis Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

| Trifexis is interceptor plus comfortis. Yes, the two largest sizes are sold out of Comfortis, which does stink. They said they are trying to have it back by early next year. We don't carry Trifexis at my clinic, so I don't know a ton about it. We just started carrying Comfortis a few months ago.

| right now no one has any fleas but not sure I want to wait that long to start back up. Boots and Sparkles have been on comfortis for over a year with no problems where I live we don't really see heartworm so I have never used a preventative. Is it ok to switch then switch back?

| To the above poster: Are you talking about switching to Trifexis? Even in low heartworm regions (was not aware that Washington state is considered low heartworm region), you do need a heartworm test before starting Trifexis or any other heartworm preventative.

| actually they don't even consider our state any kind of heartworm region. The few cases a year that have been reported have all been from dogs that have come in from outside the region. The person at the vets desk did not even mention any need for testing before starting if I wanted to get the Triifexis as the subsitute so I will ask to speak with the vet before deciding

| The thing is, dogs that come in from other regions and carry heartworm disease, will spread it in the state by mosquitos feasting on them and going to the next dog, infecting that dog and so on and so on. That is how heartworm disease spread across the country originally.
