1 year old golddie

Hi I'm new to the forum so not sure if anyone else has posted these problems, I have a beautiful 1 year old retriever named Quinn, she is fantastic for the most part, but having a few problems the last few months and it seems to be escalating out of control, I have 2 boys 12 & 8 they love the dog very much, the first problem is barking she barks at all of us alot even if shes been exercised and played with, i have tried a firm no and also the time out in her crate to no avail, the second thing nipping hands quite hard at times and pulling on clothes, this concerns me as I'm due to have a baby in may, and I'm worried that she may harm the baby by playing rough, I have waited 15 years to finally get my partner to have a dog, I chose a golden retriever as they are a good family pet, please can anyone help I've had her from a pup and I am willing to try anything to keep my beloved pet and children safe thank you

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your impending arrival.

Quick question- has your pup gone to any obedience classes?

A lot of members swear by the YouTube videos from "kikopup" and she covers a variety of subjects.

Tbh, I would go back to basics with her. Just reinforce what she already knows. To stop barking, reward her EVERYTIME she's quiet. Even if its only for a second or two. Just remember to click/treat when she's quiet. This will help train her that good things happen when's she quiet.

I can't remember if you said anything about exercise. But she might be extra energetic and need more exercise.

Also, with the hand biting and jumping. My trainer says to the your body when they try to jump on you. If you watch closely you can see the pre-jump sequence go off in their head and turn before they are in mid-flight.

When she bites, squeal in pain (like a pup) and end the play session. Same with nipping clothes. She'll learn that nipping ends play. You can also cover your hands in bitter apple.... Just don't eat food, or rub your eyes until its bee scrubbed off.
