Make sure to read the following threads:

Remember, health is paramount to physical appearance. Make sure that the sire and dam and previous 5+ generations have clearances by OFA on hips and elbows, eyes by CERF, and a cardiac clearance by a specialist. Goldens have many hereditary problems, it is important to purchase a puppy that has parents and ancestors that have been screened for such problems. It stacks the deck in your favor for a healthy, happy puppy. These clearances can be verified with the AKC registered name of the dogs at www.offa.org

Ask for help if you need it. There are many members here that can make an excellent recommendation.

What clearances look like: http://www.goldenretrieverforum.com/...ad.php?t=71378 (What clearances look like)

A puppy buyer's fact checker: http://www.goldenretrieverforum.com/...ad.php?t=22440 (A Puppy Buyer's Fact Checker)

I'd start here by contacting the local GR clubs and ask for a puppy referral.

awwww...he looks wonderful in the ad!!! Don't discount the joy of getting an older one even though you miss the puppy stage...makes it less stressful not going thru the chewing stage!

The dog in the picture looks like a mixture of American and English lines. You might want to pay attention to Malagold on the west side of the state. Cherie Berger had a half-English stud, Meadowpond English Timber, but I don't think she has any of his descendants, but his father Camrose Betimmy (an English export), is behind a lot of Meadowpond lines. They can be very high energy though....they need LOTS of exercise.

Malagold in Michigan breeds dogs very similar in type to the guy you've pictured (www.malagold.com)
Also my good friend Denise Werner has just bred a litter of dogs sired by a Canadian/English type dog, and her lines themselves go back to heavy Malagold influence. She is near Dayton, OH. www.tophatgoldens.com the litter is Scotti x Sabrina.

OK, spoke with Connie at Malagold and she is waiting for her girls to come into season and will get back with me.

Also, called and spoke with Cheri Berger of Meadowpond and she suggesed Clintonoaks. I looked at her website and it looks the father of the female they just bred has Degeneritive Joint Disease I. Isn't that bad?????
