Hello all!

My name is Matt...I'm posting here, looking for help in searching for my future pup.

I lost my first dog, Mr. Cooper to cancer in late Jan 2016. Cooper was 11, and the absolute best friend a guy could ask for. After some much needed time for recovery, I'm looking to raise another perfect gentleman. Cooper was a black lab rescue, and while I'd love to continue in the retriever family, I think a Golden would be just enough different.

I'm looking to get a Golden puppy from any of the various locations: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut , Maryland, Virginia or Central Ohio. Location is flexible as these are the areas I frequent.

I've done some initial research and made some contacts for breeders in the New York Hudson Valley area, but the more research I do, the more conflicting information I seem to find. The Hudson Golden Club was surprisingly unhelpful...

In short, I'm looking for a reputable breeder as my timing is flexible. Any suggestions or guiding information would be much appreciated. I am not looking to breed, or show.

Thank you.
Matt

Kalm Sea Goldens in Southampton, NJ. I have a Kalm Sea boy so I am very partial and very biased :) She has a long waiting list though.

Jansun Goldens in Farmingdale, I believe. My boy's sire was a Jansun golden, so again very partial and very biased.

Painting Goldens in the Rochester, NY area. No personal experience, but I've heard very good things about them.

Gaylans in Cold Spring, NY. Again, no personal experience but i've heard good things.

If you're willing to go to North PA, Harborview in Erie is great. I love her dogs from afar.

Not sure about the upcoming litters/wait lists for these breeders, but if they don't have anything coming up, they'll definitely be able to refer you to another breeder who does.

You might want to reach out to Jan Bramhall at Beau Geste kennels outside of Boston (I think she has a webpage, but don't know if it's up to date) just for advice. It's a little beyond your geographic limit, but she's very knowledgeable. You might also want to investigate Long Island Golden Retriever club - they have a Facebook page and website - as they might have some ideas. Good luck!

Hey Matt, I am also from NYC - SI to be exact. Where in the city are you located if you don't mind me asking?

I recently got a new field retriever pup from Ambertrail in Ontario Canada.
