Hello all!

My name is Matt...I'm posting here, looking for help in searching for my future pup.

I lost my first dog, Mr. Cooper to cancer in late Jan 2016. Cooper was 11, and the absolute best friend a guy could ask for. After some much needed time for recovery, I'm looking to raise another perfect gentleman. Cooper was a black lab rescue, and while I'd love to continue in the retriever family, I think a Golden would be just enough different.

I'm looking to get a Golden puppy from any of the various locations: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut , Maryland, Virginia or Central Ohio. Location is flexible as these are the areas I frequent.

I've done some initial research and made some contacts for breeders in the New York Hudson Valley area, but the more research I do, the more conflicting information I seem to find. The Hudson Golden Club was surprisingly unhelpful...

In short, I'm looking for a reputable breeder as my timing is flexible. Any suggestions or guiding information would be much appreciated. I am not looking to breed, or show.

Thank you.
Matt

Hello and welcome from the coast of Texas. Sorry about the loss of your lab and I hope you find a golden puppy very soon.

That is an awesome looking "sugar" nose on your lab. Sorry for your loss. After 10 months since loosing my"Skye", I too find the pickings slim around NY tri-state area. Make sure you know what to look for in a breeder ( OFA clearances) before you even look. This forum will give you all the education you need to make sure you pick from a proper and ethical breeder. I'm in NYC area too and mostly likely I will travel to Canada for my next Golden. I can tell you why off the forum if you want to know. Good luck in your hunt and don't be afraid to wait a year for the right dog/right breeder.
