Hi everyone, I am fairly new to this forum but have learned so much on choosing a reputable breeder. There are honestly so many breeders out there that it can get overwhelming. I have narrowed down my search to few: Loralei Golden Retrievers, Lakewood Goldens, and Gemini. Looking to see if anyone has any experience with any of them. I've been in touch with a few and being on this forum I've seen a lot of great feedback on the ones mentioned. Not much on Loralei on here so hoping to get some feedback. Thanks!
We have a couple members who know these breeders, hopefully they will see this thread and comment. If you'd like to post the registered names of the parents of the litters you're looking at, people can look at the clearances (no matter how you are referred it's important to verify clearances for every litter). Do you have the opportunity to visit these breeders? That would certainly tell you a lot, meeting them and their dogs in person. You could ask each breeder specific questions about how they raise and socialize their puppies - do they go on car rides, do children visit, are they raised the entire 8 weeks in the house or do they go to an outdoor kennel, are they exposed to water or birds. From what i know these are all good breeders and you could make decisions based on the parents of the litter (do they compete in obedience or hunt tests with the dogs? I love a breeder who does more than just conformation - conformation is both time and money-consuming but it's nice to see dogs who also show they are trainable and have other talents). Asking if they go above and beyond with the way they raise their puppies is another way of making a decision between good breeders. There is a lot breeders can do to stimulate puppies mentally, exposing them to different things to give them a good start in life. Just like you can give human children books and puzzles and get them out for nature walks etc. It doesn't mean the puppies will be necessarily smarter or better, it just shows you a breeder who is active and interested in quality of life for her dogs. A puppy search is a lot of fun, kudos to you for making the effort, I think you'll find you will get out of it what you've put in.
Thank you for the reply! I've spoken to one on the phone and she was great. The other one is more local and hoping to visit with her soon. I know LoraLei has a litter due soon. The parents are GCH Loralei's Here For The Party, WC, RN, VC "Gretchen" and *Faragold Wanna Talk About Me "Toby". If you could help with the clearances that would be great. All breeders said they provide the clearances, I have to do my research to learn how to properly read them and know what exactly to look for. LoraLei seems to be great, I was just hoping someone would here would be able to share their personal experience.
Laura (Loralei) is super. Go with confidence. Dogs will have all clearances. Gemini and Lakewood are excellent as well. If you can get on the list with any of these go for it.
There you go Anna, k9design is a Floridian and does just about everything with her Goldens and has for many years, (she also never pulls her punches) so, if she gives you the thumbs up, you're good to go. The clearances look great and even the eyes are up to date on the dogs you listed. Love a breeder who keeps their dog's pages up to date. I hope you'll keep us posted and share photos of your puppy, it's fun to live vicariously
I own Colt (GCH CH C-R Gemini's High Flying Cowboy) from Candi Pearce, Gemini Goldens. He was Winners Dog at the Golden Retriever Club of America's National Specialty in 2013. He is a happy boy in the show ring, and a great dog at home with a great temperament. Best of luck in your search for your puppy!
Hi there! No I did not, she had a small litter and didn’t have a boy for us! Are you looking for breeders?!
