Looking for a reputable breeder in Florida. Fort Meyers/Naples area? Any suggestions?

Here's a link to the local clubs by state: https://www.grca.org/about-grca/grca-clubs-map/

They can give you an idea of who has puppies available or may be planning a litter. You can also go to infodog.com and check local shows in Florida. See the names of Goldens entered, you can use the kennel names to do searches for breeders. Be sure to ask about proper clearances, why they are breeding the litter and how the puppies are socialized, where they are raised etc. no matter who the breeder is or how you were referred to them. The more you ask, the more you learn and it will be harder for an unscrupulous person to take advantage of you.

You can get registered names of parents and someone here can help you verify clearances if you;d like.

You might want to start a separate thread with those kennel names in the titles to get people to see them. You would get more looks that way. I do not have personal experience with these, but they looks like terrific choices based on several things listed on their websites: Specific mention of OFA health clearances, extremely active in AKC activities like conformation, obedience, hunt tests etc., raising puppies in their homes, Club membership in local Golden Retriever clubs, having support and mentoring from other long time reputable Golden breeders.

No matter who the breeder is, ask to be shown proof of health clearances on the both the sire and the dam of the litter and ask the breeder to explain the results to you. Ask questions about their opinions on why these clearances matter. Ask why they bred the litter and what they are trying to produce with the puppies. Ask how they socialize the puppies and how they keep notes on the litter to decide which puppy they will pick and how they decide which puppy you will bring home with you. Ask how they maintain contact and lend support to their puppy families after the puppies go home. A supportive and involved breeder is a huge bonus in the life of the dog. They should have something in their contract stating that they will take your puppy back at anytime during the life of the dog to ensure it never ends up in a shelter. It's a huge safety net for the dog.

Ask lots of questions and learn as much as possible, these breeders look like excellent choices.
