Good morning, I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with Feo Farms Kennels in Columbiana, OH. We recently moved from the West coast to Ohio and now trying to find a Golden Retriever puppy. Our "first born" is 9 years old and we feel like it is time to add a puppy back into the mix. Also open to other recommendations. I have contacted a few breeders, but have had no luck. Thanks!

This Feo Farm Kennels?

They start their introduction saying how they treat there dogs like family, and then go on to say how the dogs live in outdoor kennels year round. Is that how you should treat family? They appear to be a for-profit dog farm. They have multiple females and breed them all to their own 2 studs. I would be shocked if they did any kind of health clearances. They don't list registered names or anything to verify clearances and nothing comes up under the "Feo farm" name.

These folks are SOOO breaking AKC rules! They charge $300 extra for AKC papers=
that's a big no-no.
I think you have found a not so good breeder. Keep looking! Sites like this where all the girls are lying down, so you can't see even a hint of structure, worry me. And using their own dogs on all their girls, well, that's a bad plan. There are a bazillion stud dogs in the US and the odds that their own boys are the best for their own girls, slim to none.

I agree this looks like a commercial kennel or dogs as livestock situation. The set up is geared to make money, not to improve the quality of dogs. No talk about health certifications and no dog names on the site. You can do much better especially if health is a top concern.

I would try here for leads on reputable breeders Puppies

We have a puppy from Feo Farms. We are only 4 weeks into having him in our family, but we are very happy . We were treated very cordially and given plenty of time with puppies during our choosing process. We have had experience with other breeders who were not so professional. Autumn and her dad run a great business to help families who want a good golden retriever.

Even the worst puppy mills can have incredible service. The experience while buying is actually the easiest part of breeding dogs a business (which you have indicated is the case here). Of course people who are wanting to get hundreds or thousands of your dollars would have a huge incentive to make the process of spending your money easy and comfortable.

All puppies are cute. All puppies (absent catastrophic health issues that rarely present in puppies whose ages are measured in week) are a joy. What is missing here is any appropriate health testing. Responsible breeders test for hips, elbowss eyes and heart by cardiologist. None of their dogs have verifiable appropriate health certifications. At best there is a very spotty record for some hips and elbows. They clearly know they should be testing since they are adverrising and charging more for puppies from OFA rested moms but don’t test for everything they should and don’t test every dog. Sadly, untested or breeding of dysplastic dogs is a major issue in this breeders program.

Just as of now they have a Hana puppy listed for sale and that girl is missing a hip certification which considering other dogs have, is reasonably interpreted as a dysplastic failure where the breeder has used the ability to hide failing results from OFA’s public database.

These are expensive puppies from health risky backgrounds and not a breeder I would recommend. For the same price, you should be able to get a puppy from parents with full and verifiable health certification, health certifications for generations behind them and quality in the form of ancestors who have let their property to earn titles. To anyone who has already bought from them, please seriously consider getting full coverage pet insurance and make sure it has no extended wait for orthopedic/dysplasia issues.
