| breeder recommendations in Texas? We recently lost our 10 year old golden boy to Lung Cancer. I have two young children who have never known life without him to come home to and they are just devastated. I'm hoping for some recommendations on reputable breeders in the Texas area. Our much loved golden did not come from a reputable breeder and was plagued with health problems for the last few years of his life. Granted, there is no guarantee regarding what might develop due to environment, etc but I'd like to find a breeder who takes the health of the line seriously. Thank you in advance for any recommendations or advice you might have. |

| thank you. There isn't much info on the website but I have filled out the puppy form and hope to learn more after we are contacted. I should mention that, since I work for an airline, I'm willing to travel to meet the breeder and then again to pick up a puppy so proximity is not essential. |

| Patti Caldwell, Schoolhouse Goldens in Dallas is having a litter!! Her female's pregnancy was just confirmed. Patti is a very long time golden breeder who is married to another long time golden breeder, Dick Caldwell of Glengowen Goldens. (Dallas area) Breeding is of GCH S'More and Ch Moses. (She can tell you the registered names and I'm quite certain ALL clearances are in order too!) There are many nice Texas breeders, Scion being one of the, but Patti's is the only kennel I know for sure there is a expected litter. If I hear of anyone else, I'll let you know!

| I second the Schoolhouse, Glengowen breeders! One of our neighbors has a Glengowen dog and he is the best! He's handsome, very gentle, rarely barks, and has a job going with his Dad to an elementary school. The owner is a counselor in an at risk school in our city and said Barkley is the key to a lot of children opening up and talking to him about their home situations and problems. Denali may have a litter in the works or soon will have a litter in progress. In addition Bravo has some beautiful dogs and I also like the Tempo Goldens, but I know nothing about litter plans for anyone. This may not be the current website for the DFW Golden Retriever Breeders, but it's the one I have bookmarked on my computer: DFW Golden Retriever Breeders - Dallas Fort Worth Texas Are you willing to expand your search to Austin and Houston too? That opens up even more great breeders if so. |

| I recommend Jan and Mike Connolly at Doc's Goldens Home Not sure if they are planning a litter in 2013 but they have wonderful healthy dogs.

| I've never heard of them, so I looked up their website. Looks like they breed for performance (versus conformation or a combo), so that is why I probably never heard of them. Doesn't mean they are bad at all!!! Just make sure they do all the AKC required clearances. One thing to consider, and this is something you'd want to discuss with people because it is just something I heard ~ that performance dogs tend to be much higher drive dogs, aka tons of energy and need a job to do. Again, this is just something I heard and is not necessarily fact!! Talk to whatever breeder what your desires are as far as temperament. High drive might be what you want, but again, it might not.
